Celebrating the
Goodness of
Humanity

Core Beliefs
Our business is grounded in the belief that everything, including Highland Lake Resort, is a blessing from a loving Creator.  We are grateful to co-create a space which enables people to relax and enjoy themselves in this lakeside haven.
We fundamentally believe in the goodness of humanity and want to cultivate a space for people to experience a deeper sense of peace, unity & joy.

Our Rock Star Team
2021 & catapulting into our fourth season!
Our biggest challenge this year is finding enough employees.  The crew we have is amazing and we are so grateful for their versatility in stepping up into other jobs as needed.   We acknowledge that life is busy and often wrought with challenges, but if we focus our attention on the present, what is good and holy in the moment, miracles happen and grace abounds. We want Highland to "Celebrate the Goodness of Humanity" by honoring and delighting in one another and our guests.  We hope you feel our intention and goodness radiate throughout the property & your stay.

TO HIGHLAND LAKE RESORT STAFF ~
It's an honor working with you!
Thank you for the gift that you are, and for all you bring to my life
and the Highland Lake Resort family!

Keepers of the Grounds
Angler (aka Rich Proia) has been coming to Bridgton since the 1970's.  Summer memories were filled with fishing, skiing, swimming and exploring the beauty of Maine.  In 1992 Rich purchased land in Bridgton and spent the next decade building his own home.  Retiring from a career as a maintenance technician, for child care centers, he comes to our facility with abundant experience.  He lives with his lovely wife and two labs only minutes from the resort.
General Manager
Welcome aboard Bobbie Arsenault! What a treasure we have found! Bobbie brings over a decade of management experience in the hospitality industry and has participated in numerous volunteer services for children and families throughout Maine. Brilliant, kind, beautiful and quite serious as her mug shot indicates. Thanks for joining our team Bobbie!
Keepers of the Grounds
Bubble Head (aka Walter Morrison) has worn many hats and we're glad he's landed in our neck of the woods!  Former Navy (thank you for your service!), medical examiner, bouncer, actor, golfer and many other colorful careers and adventures.  Walter's a treasure trove of adventure stories,  and possesses a bright yet humble and sweet temperment.

Housekeeper
Tom Cat (aka Ellery Hunt)
What a treasure we have in Tom Cat!  This angel has been with us since our beginning in 2018. Always smiling and willing to help out with whatever needs to be done.  Even on those grueling 95 degree days when all 22 rooms need to be cleaned, she doesn't lose her smile and is quick to laugh. She is in college and exploring a career in social work.  We are blessed to have her youthful energy invigorate Highland.
Housekeeper
Kitten (aka Lana Rasmussen)  Her name comes from her  ferocity (not).  We're not saying she's not super strong - because to do this job one must be physically and mentally fit - it's just that Kitten has a sweet, humorous side.  We're blessed to have her experienced housekeeping skills join our team in summer 2022!  And yes we made her sport the sequenced fidora for the photo!

Housekeeper
Osprey (aka Zachary O'Connor)
This 2021 high school graduate is a stellar cleaner!   Zach's positive attitude, attention to detail and creativity have been a gift to Highland. He showed up in a time of great need and carried his weight helping our small team get through these busy times. Thank you Zach for joining our crew and infusing Highland with your amazing self!

Front Desk
Sunshine (aka Meagan Hebert)
This Maine native is the loving mother of a five year old boy who keeps her on her toes.  She is an avid reader who indulges in delicious novels. Meagan has a joyful disposition, greeting guests with light heartedness.  Aside from being an excellent reservationist she has been exceedingly helpful in keeping the office organized and tidy.
Housekeeper
Speedy (aka Nicole Mayhew)
Fast & thorough this angel sails through checklists and maintains incredibly clean standards.  This Bridgton mama lives with her husband and two children just minutes away.  Nicole & her family LOVE skiing - their happy place is on the slopes. She is one of the newest additions to the team and joy to have on board!

Front Desk
JJ (aka Emilyann Drumm)
Emilyann started with us during our 2021 season. She is in college studying to become a High School English teacher. Emilyann is passionate about dance and offers instruction for students in Auburn, ME.  She is the technology goddess of the office getting things "back online" when things go awry. The nickname is because she reminds me of a character in Criminal Minds (rest assured there is nothing criminal about this woman :)

Housekeeper
Chipmunk (aka Amber) With an awesome name like Amber who needs a nickname... But the story behind "chipmunk" was too irresistible.  This hard working angel from Bridgton is doing a stellar job keeping our rooms clean, neat and communicating efficiently with the team.  We're blessed to have her energy & spirt join our team!

Owners

John Girouard and Carlotta Girouard jointly purchased Highland Lake Resort in February 2018.
Twitch (Carlotta) resides in Bridgton and continues to establish structures and policies at Highland.  Her background includes work in hospice, emergency medicine, public policy, substance abuse & food banks.   Inspired by the teachings of Richard Rohr, the courage of Homeboy Industries and volunteer opportunities in the NH prison system, Carlotta aims to help individuals see how inherently precious, holy and loved they are... including you, yes you reading this right now!
The owner of the nose is Luna (aka Luna Lovegood).   For those with beloved pets please see our Pet Resources page for places to care for your four legged family members while you stay with us.
John is a Maine native currently residing in the White Mountains of NH.  He is a gun rights advocate and indulges in the beauty of the region by fishing, hiking and hunting.  In addition to commercial real estate investing,  John works primarily as an artist and continues to offer his creative and intuitive gifts enriching the resort.  John is the current president of the Mount Washington Valley Arts Association.  You can view John's art work here:  www.johnalangirouard.com
