Maine's lakes region comes into full swing by July 1st, but the area is still very active and alive during the fall and spring, too! Except for swimming (and many enjoy taking a dip in the lake from Memorial Day up till Labor Day), all three seaons offer up fun, adventure, arts, and shopping. You'll find Highland Lake Resort the perfect place to stay. Reserve one of our fully-equipped efficiency units for the entire week and use it as a "base of operations". Then spend your days exploring Southern Maine and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. From the hustle and bustle of the coastal cities to a quiet hike up a local mountain, Maine offers plenty to keep you occupied.
On-Site Activities:
Of course, you can choose to enjoy your stay at the Highland Lake Resort on site. Summer activities include swimming in the clean, clear waters of Highland Lake from the resort's large sandy beach. Alongside the beach, a long dock with bench seating lets parents watch their children in the water, or provides a great place to "catch some rays".
From April through October, perhaps you want to take out one of the resort's free row boats, canoes, or pedal boat for awhile. The lake is teaming with large- and small-mouth bass, brown trout, lake trout (touge), white and yellow perch, hornpout, and pickerel. We have several fishing rods on hand, and temporary fishing licenses are available intown, or online through our Fishing & Hunting page. And nothing beats the view of the lakeside foliage from a canoe on a crisp, autumn morning!
Less water-oriented? Try out our tennis court (balls and racquets available) or the lawn games. Play some badminton, volleyball, football, or soccer. If the weather's not cooperating, you can use the ping pong table, billiard table, darts, and foosball in the game room, or pamper yourself in our Spa and Fitness Center. There's plenty for people of ALL ages to do at the Resort all year!
